Biography
Katarina Fitzpatrick is a member of Kacico Dance, as well as a freelance dancer and choreographer. In the summer of 2016 she produced “Feet to the Fire: Young Dance Artists in the Midwest,” a performance for the Kansas City Fringe Festival. The show featured her choreographic work “Strange Folk(s),” danced by herself and other freelance dancers with ties to Kansas City. In the 2016 season, she has performed with Kacico Dance in “A Silent Majority,” “Meter, Beat, and Feet,” “Severance,” and “Serenity.” She appeared in Suzanne Ryan-Strati’s “A Tulip Unfolding,” at the annual Modern Night at the Folly and the 2015 Kansas City Fringe Festival. She is also a certified Stott Pilates instructor.
Katarina holds a B.A. from Mercyhurst University with dual majors in dance (with a choreography concentration) and anthropology/archaeology (with a sociocultural anthropology concentration). At Mercyhurst, she performed works by José Limón, Neta Pulvermacher, Melissa Bobick, Solveig Santillano, Mark Santillano, and Noelle Partusch. Two of her own works premiered in dance department productions at the Mary D’Angelo Performing Arts Center. Prior to Mercyhurst, she trained at the Kansas City Ballet School for ten years and was a member of the Kansas City Youth Ballet for three. She performed Kansas City Ballet's “ The Nutcracker” (flower and snow corps), Lew Christensen’s “Con Amore,” and contemporary works by Jennifer Owen, Suzanne Ryan-Strati, and other faculty members. She also attended summer programs at Alonzo King’s LINES Ballet, The Ailey School, and Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet.
